Robert F. Gschwend, 84, of Rotonda, Fla., passed away Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn., with his family by his side.

He owned Gschwend Heating and Air Conditioning in Whitehouse, Ohio, for 32 years. Robert was president of the Toledo, Ohio, Heating Contractors Association. He was past president of the Rotary Club of Waterville, Ohio, and an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Waterville. Robert moved to Florida in 1987, and was active in the Sunrise Rotary Club, Faith Lutheran Church, the Lemon Bay Playhouse and Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed many fishing trips to Canada with family and friends. Robert was an active member of Rotonda Golf and Country Club. One of his joys was being a handyman to friends and family. He built his own home in Waterville. Robert will be remembered by family and friends as a kind and gentle man who showed his love through service.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara; children, Bruce Gschwend and Bonnie (Scott) Schlegel; grandchildren, Caitland (Stephan) Sharp and Ty (Megan) Schlegel; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Robert J. Gschwend, who passed away in June 1983.
