Barbara M. Joel, 73, of Lake Suzy, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, from a lengthy illness.

She was born April 20, 1939, in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of John and Ann Zucha.

Barbara worked at Goodyear Bank in Akron for many years, before retiring and moving to Florida with her family in 1994. She worked in newspaper sales for the Charlotte Sun in Port Charlotte, Fla., upon her move to Florida, until she was unable to work due to her illness.

Barbara will be greatly missed by her husband of 40 years, Donald; son, Donald (Carolyn) Jr.; and two grandchildren, Christian and Destiny. She was preceded in death by her sister, Georgene Wintrow; and parents, Ann and John Zucha.

The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at Paul Schelm Funeral Home, 12687 S.W. County Road 769 (Kings Highway), Lake Suzy.
